One of our favourite ways to bring a project to life is through colour. Every colour can evoke an emotion, shape a mood and influence how an audience experiences a piece of work. Colour plays a vital role in defining a brand, communicating an artistic vision and creating the overall feel of a campaign.
We don’t simply balance each shot to match reality. We build a considered colour system around the project, creating a consistent pipeline that takes the footage from capture through to the final grade. Every decision is shaped around the creative vision, ensuring the finished images feel intentional, cohesive and true to the world we’re trying to create.
Corporate events often involve natural-light environments with constantly changing and mixed light sources. In these situations, it’s critical to balance shots consistently while maintaining natural-looking highlights and shadows that support the creative vision of the project.
I focus on creating a cohesive look across challenging lighting conditions while maintaining rich, warm and healthy skin tones, ensuring people remain natural and the overall footage feels consistent and polished.
Stage lighting can combine intense brightness with highly saturated colours, making it important to control bright areas of the image without losing the atmosphere or drawing attention away from the key areas of the frame.
The colours used in stage lighting can also be challenging for natural skin reproduction. I focus on bringing these colours into a controlled, artistic range while protecting areas of the image that the eye expects to remain more neutral. This allows the lighting to retain its energy and character while maintaining natural, healthy skin tones.
A long-form vlog documenting artist Copdat’s journey to Mazza L20’s first performance in Manchester. The film follows his day from the moments in between to the performance itself, capturing the atmosphere and story around the event.
Working from over four hours of raw footage, we shaped the material into a compact 15-minute vlog, handling the full post-production process from editing through to sound design and colour grading.
The project presented an interesting colour challenge, combining available light throughout the day with bright, saturated stage lighting. The grade was developed to bring consistency across these contrasting environments while preserving the energy and atmosphere of the performance.
